WELCOME MESSAGE
Dear colleagues in endoscopy,
On behalf of the ESGE Scientific Committee, I am delighted to welcome you to explore the ESGE Days 2025 accepted abstracts featured in this supplemental edition of Endoscopy.
As we approached the end of ESGE’s Diamond Jubilee year, where we celebrated the 60th birthday of our society, we were honored to receive a total of 1881 abstract submissions from 70 countries across the world. This represents a new ESGE record, however, we were not only thrilled by the number of abstracts, but also by the high quality of the work submitted. We also follow with interest which countries submit abstracts to our annual meeting. We are grateful for the strong support from Spain, who again had the highest number of submissions, however we also welcome the growing numbers from our north African member societies of Morocco and Tunisia, and submissions from researchers located far from our European center, such as from South Korea and Japan.
Original research is the cornerstone of the scientific content of our meeting, offering valuable insights into the latest advancements in our field. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the researchers who have shared their work with us. Your submissions and active participation drive us forward, and we are proud to say we are the leading international endoscopy meeting in Europe.
To demonstrate how much we value researchers’ contributions, this year we have increased both the number and value of travel grants we provide, supporting even more endoscopists in sharing their vital work at our meeting.
At ESGE Days in Barcelona we will present abstracts in a variety of different formats. The best abstracts will be showcased in our Presidential session, paired with a state-of-the-art lecture on the same topic. The next best abstracts will be presented as oral presentations, distributed over all three days of the congress. Two of these sessions will be dedicated to nursing abstracts, as we were delighted to receive many abstracts from our nursing community, ESGENA. We will also feature research in the form of moderated posters on innovative stages in the heart of our congress, the Science Arena, where authors will get a chance to discuss their results with expert moderators and delegates. The Science Arena is also where all abstracts will be available to browse via our poster stations.
We hope you can join us to explore and learn from this wealth of science on offer in Barcelona. All of this would not have happened without the outstanding work of the Scientific Committee which has worked hard to develop the programme and review and allocate the abstracts. Another big ‘Thank you’ to the Scientific Committee and also to the wonderful ESGE office team for all their support.
