ESGE presents at the European Parliament
We, the European Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, were honored to be invited to the European Parliament in Brussels to take part in a high-level summit in Health Diplomacy titled “Breaking boundaries: Navigating Health Policy and Diplomacy in Clinical Trials and Bioethics”. The event took place on Wednesday, September 9, 2023 at 15:00 CEST.
We were very grateful to be given a public platform to discuss the key topics that are currently impacting digestive health on behalf of our members and patients across Europe and beyond.
We would like to thank everyone who joined us online to watch our presentation titled “ESGE – Advancing Digestive Health in Europe”. For those who missed it, the PowerPoint that we presented is available to view here.
Younes El Ghazi, CEO, Global Diplomatic Forum

Under discussion were the following topics:
- ESGE: Why we are important for European digestive health
- ESGE publications: Directly impacting patient care
- Working towards 'greener' endoscopy
- Equity and diversity: Giving equal opportunities to all our community
- New EU medical device regulations: Shortage of life-saving devices?
During the afternoon, Prof Ian Gralnek and Prof Marianna Arvanitakis from our delegation took part in a TV Studio interview which is also available to view here.
We wish to thank our membership community whole-heartedly for their support in bringing the topics close to our hearts to this important European stage.
