ESGE Statement on the invasion of Ukraine

A year ago, at the outbreak of war in Ukraine, ESGE pledged to support Ukraine in its efforts to fight for justice, democracy, diversity and peace in that country. As a sign of solidarity, our association donated €10,000 through the Red Cross.

Meanwhile, the war continues and has claimed thousands of innocent lives. We have not forgotten our friends in Ukraine, and our solidarity and willingness to help is greater than ever.
We continue to support their efforts to defend their country and are donating a further €10,000 through the Red Cross to this cause.

We, the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE), are deeply concerned by recent developments on the European continent and the ensuing war in Ukraine.  Our sympathy and solidarity lie with the people of Ukraine, home of one of ESGE’s member societies, and our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are suffering through these traumatic events.

We are in contact with our member society in Ukraine to organize help and we ask all other member societies of ESGE including our corporate partners to support our friends where they can.

As a scientific medical organization, ESGE stands for inclusion, mutual respect, human health and democratic peace. We strongly condemn this aggressive, violent  and unacceptable act of war by the Russian government.
