Endoscopic ultrasonography with a radial scanner has become the gold standard for staging gastrointestinal cancers, further differentiating intramural and extramural masses, detecting common bile duct stones, and detecting and differentiating benign and malignant pancreatic disease. This eLearning video covers the technical background, basic techniques and indications for EUS. In addition, there is a brief overview of new technological developments, including Doppler, contrast-enhanced imaging of solid lesions, and elastography.
