ESGE at UEGW 2007

The ESGE presented educational activities again at the 15th UEGW in Paris. Please find below information regarding ESGE activities at the ESGE Learning Area.

ESGE Learning Area

The ESGE Learning Area offers teaching activities and events and is open to all delegates: It is comprised of three sections, the ESGE Hands-On Training Centre, the ESGE DVD Learning Centre and the ESGE Lecture Theatre.

1. ESGE Hands-On Training Centre (in cooperation with Esgena)

A) Training with Biologic Models

Saturday, 27 and Sunday, 28 October 2007

The ESGE Hands-on Training Sessions with biologic models are the fanfare opening of the ESGE Learning Area on Sunday. UEGW delegates may apply to take part in one of four training sessions on animal models. With access to state of the art endoscopic equipment with personal tutoring, participants will have the opportunity to perform techniques that are demonstrated and discussed during the ESGE programme at the combined Postgraduate Course. Two stations during the morning sessions and one in the afternoon will be hosted by ESGENA and will provide nurse training on management of upper GI bleeding and ERCP.

Registration: Please register at the ESGE reception desk in the ESGE Learning Area on Level 3 on Saturday. Sunday on-site registration is limited to spaces still open when the sessions start. Participation will be admitted on a first-come-first-served basis.

B) Training at Simulator and Capsule Endoscopy Stations

Monday October 29 - Wednesday, October 31, 2007

Under the guidance of experts, almost all aspects of GI endoscopy can be practiced here. Whether using standard endoscopes on lifelike manikin simulators with computer-assisted simulation, or trying your skills at one of the capsule endoscopy stations, professionals from the manufacturing companies and expert doctors will be there to give advice and to answer your questions. No pre-registration is required for the demonstration sessions announced below. Expert endoscopists will give a short talk and demonstration at one of the simulator tables.

2. ESGE DVD Learning Centre

Sunday October 28 - Wednesday, October 31, 2007

This centre offers UEGW delegates the opportunity to visit 18 stations where the latest teaching material may be viewed via DVD and headphone presentation, and is ideal for individual study and special interest. Many of the DVDs shown belong to the EUROPEAN TEACHING ENCYCLOPEDIA ON DIGESTIVE ENDOSCOPY. The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy will again present DVDs at two stations. Also, interesting material from Japan will enhance the programme. Areas of special interest, new techniques and unusual cases are presented here.

3. ESGE Theatre

Discussions with experts: How to do it?

The ESGE is proud to offer small-scale lectures by select topic experts. For a limited audience, two-way discussion and extended interaction will be promoted, to improve the teaching output for the audience. No registration required, the lecture theatre will be closed when all seats are taken – 50 participants per session will be admitted.
